From Ground Shifting to Blossoming: Finding Connection in Change

Life’s transitions often leave us feeling unmoored. Whether these changes are internal or external, it’s common to experience a sense of loss as familiar people, places, and routines seem to fade away. I’ve been there too—standing on metaphorical crumbling ground, unsure of what’s next.

When the ground beneath us begins to shift, it’s easy to feel like we’re losing our footing entirely. Change can feel like failure, as though all our efforts are leading to collapse rather than growth. But I’ve learned that this perspective is often a trick of the ego, which convinces us that “everything is growing wrong” when, in fact, the opposite is true. Underneath the chaos, something beautiful is germinating.

Having a community of like-minded individuals has been a lifeline during my most challenging transitions. Sitting together, sharing stories, praying, and navigating the complexities of change with others can remind us that we are not alone. Trusted practitioners and friends can reflect back the truth we sometimes can’t see ourselves: that even in our hardest moments, growth is happening.

Ceremony is another powerful tool that has helped me stay connected—not just to others but to myself, the elements, and a source of power greater than my own. Ceremony is a unifier. It brings hearts and souls together, creating space for healing, reflection, and transformation. When I engage in ceremony, I feel my heart open, like a flower blossoming toward the sun. It’s a reminder that even when I feel isolated, I’m connected to something much larger.

If you’re in the midst of change, consider these practices:

  1. Find Your Circle: Surround yourself with people who understand and support your journey. A like-minded community can provide the strength and perspective you need to keep going.

  2. Engage in Ceremony: Whether it’s lighting a candle, saying a prayer, or gathering with others in a sacred space, ceremony can help ground and unify you during uncertain times.

  3. Trust the Process: Remember that growth often happens underground, unseen. Just as a seed takes time to sprout, your transformation is unfolding in ways you may not yet recognize.

Change can feel like the earth beneath you is giving way, but it’s also an opportunity for profound growth. When you lean into connection—with others, with yourself, and with the world around you—you’ll find that you’re not losing ground at all. You’re blossoming.
